Rinkēvičs: A government can be formed by the national holiday
A government can be formed by the national holiday, believes President Edgars Rinkēvičs.
When asked if he is satisfied with the pace of government formation, Rinkēvičs reminded in an interview with public media of his earlier statement that in his ideal world, the government would be formed by the national holiday, and the budget adopted by Christmas. According to him, this scenario is still valid.
The president acknowledged that "his ideal world may differ from the real world."
Rinkēvičs believes there were very objective and justified reasons why government formation talks did not start this week.
He assessed that the situation is unique - there is a 41 mandate for one political force and a very broad desire for different politics. As the president emphasized, in such a situation, solutions are not so ordinary.
Rinkēvičs expressed hope that government formation talks would begin next week.
"I believe that the mission to form a government by the national holiday is very possible and achievable," the president concluded.
