Kulbergs will not continue the 'public format meeting' on the formation of the new government this week
Prime Minister candidate Andris Kulbergs (AS) will not hold a 'public format meeting' on the formation of the new government this week.
Kulbergs concluded the first official talks with parties this week with a meeting on Monday with the party 'Latvia First' (LPV). After that, the next round of talks was promised, and potential coalition partners expressed that they are waiting for the continuation of consultations with a higher level of detail on the tasks to be done, but such public discussions will not take place this week.
Meanwhile, Kulbergs stated on Tuesday on Latvian Television that all options are still possible for the model of the new government. Currently, the three most realistic options being discussed are the cooperation of the 'United List' (AS) with the National Alliance (NA) and 'New Unity' (JV), or just NA, or an AS minority government that would actually rely on LPV support.
According to the politician, in the first round of talks with the parties, he emphasized the seriousness of Latvia's financial situation and tried to find out whether political forces are ready to abandon the promises made to voters that do not have financial backing.
