Kulbergs will continue the pause for another week before starting talks with potential coalition partners
"United List" (UL) will only start talks next week with potential partners for the next coalition regarding the formation of a new government, Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (UL) informs in a statement to the media. Kulbergs had previously taken a break of more than two weeks after the Saeima elections, during which no official talks regarding the formation of a new government were initiated.
Citing busyness with daily tasks, Kulbergs promised to inform about the plans for talks at the beginning of this week, which has been done today, but the actual talks are planned to start more than a week later. The UL politician plans to start talks with other political forces very close to the first session of the 15th Saeima - on October 28, talks are first planned with the National Alliance (NA), and later on the same day with the "New Unity" (JV).
The UL is already cooperating with these parties in the current government. At the same time, the "United List" intends to meet with other parties represented in the Saeima. The next Saeima also includes the parties "Latvia First" (LPV), "Sovereign Power/Union of New Latvians" (SV/AJ), and "Progressives". According to Kulbergs, the formation of the government will begin with an agreement on cooperation principles, the changes to be implemented, and accountability for the results to be achieved. The Prime Minister emphasizes that the new government must be a team with clearly defined goals and readiness to make difficult decisions.
