Kulbergs to maintain official silence on new government formation for at least another week
Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (AS) does not currently plan to begin active negotiations on forming the next coalition.
This week, the politician is focusing primarily on talks regarding the European Union's multi-annual budget.
Following a coalition meeting, the Prime Minister promised journalists that a schedule of meetings with newly elected Saeima factions is set to be published on October 19 to discuss potential national development and reform plans. He emphasized that current discussions are not centered on the distribution of posts, but rather on substantive priorities.
Meanwhile, Edmunds Jurēvics, head of the "New Unity" faction, stated that his party respects the initiative of the election-winning "United List" (AS) to lead consultations on forming the new government and is ready to participate as soon as an invitation is received.
Kulbergs stressed that the public expects changes from the new Saeima, which is why negotiations for the next coalition must take place thoughtfully and without rush.
