Child Protection Center Launches Event Cycle on Non-Violent Parenting: “Love is Safety”
The Child Protection Center (CPC) across Latvia is launching an informative event cycle titled “Love is Safety” with the message “The same hand. A different choice.” As Gunita Kovaļevska, the director of CPC, explained in an interview with the Skonto media group (SMG), the main goal is to draw attention to non-violent parenting. This means recognizing your stress and anger in a timely manner, so that in critical moments you do not act impulsively, but raise your child with respect and love.
“There will be a variety of materials that will also be posted on the Child Protection Center's website supportforchildren.lv. So there will be interviews on social networks with parents, who will share their experiences about their difficulties, about their good practices, how they manage non-violent parenting. We will also have two meetings with parents in both Riga and Liepaja. Information about this can be found on the Child Protection Center's website,” Kovaļevska explains about the event.
“What is important is that these materials will also be available on our website later, not just during the event, so of course, anyone can call the helpline if they need assistance and face difficulties, but these are the main events, we will also create a collection of materials and videos, so that parents can find and view them when they need to, and understand what to do next,” says Gunita Kovaļevska in an interview with SMG.
