Voting Begins in the US Midterm Elections
Today, voting has begun in the US midterm elections on the East Coast, where Democrats hope to take control of both chambers of Congress.
Voting will continue until 12:00 AM Eastern Time (7:00 AM Latvian Time), when polling stations will close in Alaska and Hawaii.
In this midterm election, all 435 members of the House of Representatives and one-third, or 35 senators, will be re-elected.
President Donald Trump's Republicans are fighting to maintain control of both chambers of Congress, but polls indicate they are almost certain to lose their current majority in the House of Representatives and that their majority is also at risk in the Senate.
If Democrats regain control of both chambers, Trump's remaining two years in the White House will be significantly complicated.
